I saw this video and it made me think. I don’t know all the songs, but many of them sparked my memory and put a smile on my face. How can sounds like this have an impact? They don’t really say anything. And then I thought, how many words do we hear every day that don’t really say anything.

Some words mean something. There are words that heal. There are words the comfort. There are words that correct and teach. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17).” God’s word is not noise. It shouldn’t just evoke an emotional response, but when really listened to, it transforms the mind.

Some words mean everything. “…the gospel… is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes… (Romans 1:16).” No philosophy or ideology can compete with the “power of God.” The words of the gospel mean everything to this world.

How much time do I spend listening to words that are meaningless? What is the last thing the Word of God has changed in my life? And am I sharing my own words with people, or am I sharing words that change lives?  My hope is you will discover the life that God’s word brings and you give yourself to speaking that word into the lives of those He loves (everyone!).
